WATER HEATER REPLACEMENT YOU CAN TRUST

If your water heater is 10 years old or older, you are living on borrowed time, as 10 years is the average life expectancy for a water heater. You may notice that your energy usage and costs are going up. If this is happening, now is the time to begin planning to replace your unit.

The best time to replace a water heater is before you’re forced to because your water heater tank failed. This gives you time to research your options in new water heaters and be confident in your choice.

Taylor Energy can help you make replacing your water heater worry-free! We sell and install models of outstanding quality from the best makers, including A.O. Smith. We’ll help you choose the right water heater for your home, as well as help you secure financing and rebates.

Today’s water heaters offer outstanding energy efficiency, so your new water heater will begin to pay for itself from the moment it’s installed!

By keeping an eye on your water heater and getting it regular professional maintenance, you can help prevent being surprised by its failure.

You should take time every month to give your water heater a close visual inspection. Often, the signs of failure can be seen, so you have time to contact Taylor Energy to assess the situation. Here are some things to look for. If you see them, get in touch with us for a water heater repair service call:

  • puddles or wet spots on your floor, which may mean that your tank has a leak
  • rusty hot water coming from your faucets, an indication that corrosion is in your tank
  • strange noises such as rumbling or banging when the water heater is working, a sign that sediment has built up at the bottom of the tank and may have hardened
  • water that never gets hot enough, often a result of mineral deposits that have formed and are coming between the burner and the heater

WATER HEATER MAINTENANCE THAT HELPS YOUR WATER HEATER LAST

While you may get regular, professional maintenance for your home’s heating and cooling systems, you may be surprised to hear that water heaters need this attention as well. Such care can help extend the life of your water heater.

Our service technicians will go over your entire water heater. If you have a unit with a tank, one thing they will pay special attention to is the anode rod inside. The anode rod draws minerals away from the interior walls of the tank to protect them from corrosion. The rod needs to be checked regularly and replaced when necessary, as it will eventually corrode from those materials and leave your tank without protection.

Taylor Energy offers affordable service plans that not only include an annual tune-up, but also cover or discount many parts and labor costs for repairs so that you don’t get a big repair bill.

HOW DOES A WATER HEATER WORK?

It all depends on what kind of unit you have. The two major types of water heaters are the conventional storage water heaters with a tank and tankless water heaters. Here’s a basic primer on how each operates.

Storage water heaters with a tank. Cold water from your water supply, be it public or a well, comes into the water heater tank. It is heated there, and the water heater turns on regularly to make sure the water in the tank is hot whenever you need it.

Tankless water heaters. When a hot water faucet in a sink or an appliance such as your dishwasher or washing machine turns on, the cold water from the lines coming into your home is pulled through the water heater, where a natural gas burner or electric heating element heats the water instantly to your set temperature. That hot water is sent directly to where it is needed.

Each type of water heater has its advantages. A storage water heater is less expensive and has a less complex system than a tankless water heater, meaning you will pay less up front for purchase and installation. Tankless water heaters, meanwhile, have a life expectancy at least twice as long as that of a storage water heater and can cut your water heating energy costs by 40% or more, which can save you big money over its lifetime.
